With a couple days hard work, Thai iced coffee and a few little dogs,
we've finished constructing the limited edition versions of the new
record for the release party this Monday Oct 30 at the Cha Cha in LA.
We will be giving a few away at the beginning of the night a well as a
raffle give away later in the evening for the late comers. We also
have some "textile gifts" that we'll be handing out as well as selling
some stuff for those who didn't receive the free goods. We will also
be playing the record a few times through the Cha Cha's PA as well as
some special DJ sets.

The Cha Cha is located at 2375 Glendale Blvd in Silver Lake (near the
corner of Glendale and Silver Lake Blvd, across from the Red Lion). We
plan on starting at 9pm and there is no cover or ticket needed to
enter. You will need some money for the evenings $1.50 tap PBR special
and the bar's foos ball tables and photo booth (there will be some
damn good foos ball players there by the way). We WILL NOT be
performing that evening just celebrating with good friends.

So if you can come on down to see and hear what we've come up with.
It's looking like it will be a pretty fun evening and if you haven't
been to our favorite bar the Cha Cha yet you're really in for a treat!

RECORD RELEASE PARTY!... and footage with tim hecker

We've decided at the last minute (as usual) that we couldn't let the
release of our new record "In The Absence Of Truth" pass without some
sort of celebration. For those of you in the Los Angeles area we'd
like to invite you to join us Monday, October 30 at the Cha Cha
Lounge located at 2375 Glendale Blvd in Silver Lake (near the corner
of Glendale and Silver Lake Blvd, across from the Red Lion).

We'll be playing our new record (the cd, not performing) as well as offering
some special giveaways that we’re making just for this event. There will
also be some free t-shirts, posters, lighters and other various goodies.
The Cha Cha will be serving $1.50 Pabst all night as well!

So come down and help us celebrate the release of our new record and
the beginning of "another round" with family and friends.

Hello everyone.

Where do we begin? So much is happening and has happened that it's
hard to fit it all in. I guess we'll start with the completion of the
US/Canadian TOOL/ISIS tour..... WOW what an amazing time. We'd like to
sincerely thank TOOL and their entire crew for having us along for the
trip. We were also lucky enough to play a few headlining shows of our own
with the mighty Versoma - old friends and a good new band, be sure to check
them out if you have the chance - noise and melody never sounded so sweet.

Being surrounded by such inspirational and creative people for
two months was quite an experience. One that we'll never forget.
Also having such an amazing crew ourselves made things truly exceptional.
Mark, Chris, Andy and Greg: thanks for all your hard work and good
times.

We'd also like to say a big thank you to all our old and new fans who
made the effort to come out and support us. Opening for a band of
TOOL's capacity is not an easy feat so we thank you for listening and
for the great shows.

Our first DVD "Clearing The EYE" on Ipecac records is now out in
stores. We spent a good many months viewing and collecting material
for this release and feel it's a good representation of us as people
and as a band over the last nine years. We hope you enjoy it.

On October 10, we also released our "In The Fishtank" collaboration
with Scottish band Aereogramme. This was a three-day collaboration
between the two bands in a small studio in Holland. For such a short
session we managed to turn out some music that we feel is really
exceptional. Again we hope you like it....

And finally our new full length "In The Absence Of Truth" will be out
October 31, also on Ipecac. It has already been released on cd by Daymare
records in Japan (thanks again Tadashi!), and there will be forthcoming vinyl
versions of the album in the US, Europe, and Japan, from Robotic Empire,
Conspiracy Records, and Daymare respectively. We spent more time writing
and in the studio on this one than on any other release and feel that it is by
far our best work. We've been previewing some of the songs on our last
few tours and are very excited for it's release.

We're also working on a few other things like booking tours and
developing a new website. As you'll soon see in the liner notes of "In
The Absence Of Truth" our new band website URL is
www.isistheband.com. We're working hard to make a better and more
intuitive site for the release of the new record. It is in the very
basic stages at the moment and will be ready to launch soon. We'll
keep you posted.

If you're in the UK you may have a chance to check out Red Sparowes on
their current tour in support of their new record "Every Red Heart
Shines Toward The Red Sun". They'll be there from Oct.15th - Oct
25th. If you go be sure to bring Andy some Reese's peanut butter cups.
It's almost Halloween and their his favorite!

Again thanks to all the friends, new and old, and family who came out to support
us these past few months. It was a very special experience for all of
us and we thank you!

Summer Salutations Everyone! Fall US Tour With TOOL!

So the new record is complete. We finished mixing a few days ago, and although we are reluctant to divulge much about it at this point, we will reveal that It’s comprised of 8 songs, a little over an hour of music. Ipecac Recordings will once again be releasing suggestion CD, and the expected release date is Halloween, Oct. 31st.

We should have dates up soon for a full US tour beginning AUG 22nd as a support for TOOL. We are also planning a full US Headlining tour for after the record comes out in November and December, so we WILL be coming to a town near you soon enough.

The LIVE 4 CD is now out of our hands and at our webstore waiting for the good people there to sort out the particulars… but anyway keep checking. If you aren't familiar with the HYDRAHEAD / ISIS webstore, they will often offer special deals with a CD and T-SHIRT and so forth and so on and we have done something similar with the LIVE 4 CD, hence the delay. It will be worth the wait, we promise. By the way, the ISIS LIVE CD series is something we do ourselves, and where the previous 3 releases consisted of complete sets, this 4th CD includes a variety of performances from 7 or 8 different shows.

We head over seas in a week, and are really looking forward to playing some shows again, as well as seeing all our friends in Holland, France, and England. We'll have some more exciting news to reveal in the coming weeks so please stay tuned.

RECORDING UPDATE AND HOLC SHOW

hello,
just a quick message here to let you all know that so far, everything is going splendidly with the recording of the new isis album. we've been at the bomb shelter studio since june 8th with our long time engineer/producer matt bayles. he hasn't lost his mind yet, but will soon.
we've tracked basic parts for a total of 8 songs with the addition of a couple short interludes. we may trim this down some depending on the finished length of the recordings, but that remains to be seen. there is now a title for the album, titles for most of the songs, and artwork underway, but of course we can't reveal any of that just yet....

also, ISIS related project House of Low Culture will be playing a show in los angeles on june 20th.
HOLC is a guitar based "ambient" project by a. turner of ISIS, that occasionally enlists outside help from a rotating cast of characters... this particular show will be comprised of new/improvised HOLC material as well as collaboration with the two other bands on the bill - everlovely lightningheart and animal hospital. should be an interesting experiment if nothing else... here are the details:

Summer News (DVD! LIVE 4 CD! IN THE FISHTANK CD!)

Hey Everybody....

We've wrapped up the east coast leg of this spring tour and it couldn't of been better. Well, maybe Richmond could have been, but even that turned out ok. Thanks to eveyone who came out to be a part of the shows, we know a good number you travelled a long way, we appreciate it. Bear hugs again to Zombi and Dalek who killed it every night as well as being great friends and tourmates.

So we finally got the LIVE 4 CD together and will have a limited number of them available from our webstore soon. This volume is a compilation of songs from different shows over the past 6 years or so, with some older songs, a couple newer extended line-up songs, and a live improv 'jam.'

The DVD is in production and will be out in August thanks to Ipecac Recordings, as well as the In the Fishtank CD we recorded with Aereogramme last year in the Netherlands. The exact date and US distribution are still to be determined, but it will be available on Konkurrent in Europe.

We will be playing a handful of Europe shows and UK shows in July, including a performance at All Tomorrow's Parties' "Don't Look Back" series, where we will be performing OCEANIC in it's entirety. Dates will be posted in the next few days. We will also be performing at this years FUJI ROCK FEST in Japan with Mogwai and a shitload of other bands.

Be sure to check out MGR performing with Pelican and MONO tonite May 10th at the First Unitarian Church in Philly, and as a part of the Dalek / Destructo Swarmbots / MGR Big Band performing at Irving Plaza in NYC on May 14th.

Other than that, it's time to get the writing finished seeing as we enter the studio in less than a month.

Spring Update

Greetings!

Many things going on out here this spring -

--- First, we regret to inform you that the rumors of a European tour with TOOL is just a rumor, we are actually gonna be in the studio at the time. Hopefully another opportunity will present itself soon. Sorry for the mix-up but unfortunately it is NOT going to happen.

--- We have completed the west coast leg of our spring "East-West Visitations" tour. THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported us. We we're very happy to see so many of you and preview a few of the new songs. As usual our "secret weapon" Greg Moss was at the soundboard making us sound better than we should and we also had a few new crew members with us who we'd like to sincerely thank. Tour manager/tech Jeff Thomas and merch extraordinaire Peter Good. Thanks again to everyone for the good times and to all the great bands we shared the stage with.

--- We have confirmed our recording schedule, it looks like we will be headed to the studio here in Los Angeles in June to record our next record. Matt Bayles will be back behind the board working his magic, and if everything goes as planned we should be looking at a Halloween release date.

--- Speaking of releases, the DVD is currently being edited and should be out before the end of the summer and the LIVE 4 CD will be ready for the east coast leg of the upcoming tour.

--- We're also confirming a handful of UK and EURO dates for July, as well as a few other scattered shows, more details on that soon.

HOUSE OF LOW CULTURE (isis related project) will play a one off show in LA on december 16th at the mountain bar.... the show is with kid606 and others TBA. there may be some sort of special HOLC release made for this show... or maybe that's just a way to entice you folks out who only care about collecting our limited releases. this is the first and only HOLC live performance of 2005. the show is free so come on down! bring some pep pills though cuz this boring ass drone shit will probably put you to sleep! pillows and nightgowns are encouraged....

LIVE SERIES AND DVD UPDATE

hi there,
we're currently sorting through material for the next live disc, as well as tons of live video footage for the long talked about DVD. we probably have enough audio for the next 10 live CDs at this point, but we're still looking for any footage of our live set in spain from a couple years back, where we performed a few tracks with christian fennesz who we were on tour with at the time. we've been trying to find this footage for years (ever since the show itself), so if anybody has a copy of that or has a friend that has a copy PLEASE get in touch. we'd even be happy with an audio recording of this show....
for the next live cd we were considering doing a compilation of live tracks from various sets over the years, so it should be a bit different than the previous live releases, and will go back considerably further in our history. we're also toying with the idea of releasing an entire set from much further back than any of the other 3 live discs released so far, but that's only if we can find one we can stand to listen to all the way through - which thus far has proved quite difficult.....
as for the dvd it looks like we'll be including footage from shows in japan, sweden, australia, and the us, and who knows what else we'll dig up while we're rooting through this stuff. the range of quality in terms of the footage will probably end up being pretty "dynamic", but we assure you that whatever we select will be for a good reason - even if the material is a bit rough around the edges from a performance and/or footage quality perspective. we don't have a specific release date for any of this yet, but we'll definitely keep you posted.
we did however, just receive the vinyl version of the "live 2" cd release we did many months back, BUT the jackets were misprinted and now have to go back to the manufacturer to be reprinted - very frustrating.... but it's better to delay it further than push out some unacceptable crap as far as we're concerned.
...and lastly, we'll leave you with this nice photo from our very first tour with cable in the awful summer of 1999 - the tour that almost ended the band before it really began. thanks to bernie/cable for providing us with trip down memory lane....
